EDUCATION
Masters of Arts (Anthropology), University of Victoria 2016
Bachelors of Arts (Anthropology), University of Victoria 2011
I am a Northwest Coast Archaeologist Field Director with over 10 years experience in academic archaeological studies and 8 years experience in Cultural Resource Management. I was born and raised on Vancouver Island, completing my Graduate Degree at the University of Victoria in 2016. Based out of Victoria, much of my work is throughout Vancouver Island and Pacific Northwest.
The focus of my graduate research and several subsequent projects has been ancient cedar harvesting in coastal British Columbia and Vancouver Island, including the impacts that decades of industrial logging has had on Culturally Modified Trees and forests. Much of my work involves recovering data from clearcut CMT features.
I am regularly involved in archaeological investigations throughout the Pacific Northwest, having participated on multiple projects with the University of Victoria (Barkley Sound), Simon Fraser University (Quadra Island and Douglas Channel), University of British Columbia (Prince Rupert Harbour), and the University of Toronto (Sunshine Coast). Cultural Resource Management projects have brought me to the Great Bear Rainforest, Peace River Valley, Fraser Canyon, Lillooet area, Lower Mainland and Greater Victoria Region.
Currently the focus of my work is with the 'Namgis First Nation on northern Vancouver Island, thought I remain involved with projects in Gitga'at and Nuu-chah-nulth territories and contract out to several CRM firms. I am also on the board of directors of the Archaeological Society of BC, manager of the editorial board of The Midden Journal and researcher for a Santa Fe Institute working group.
